Let Freedom Ring

For my Fourth of July entry, I thought it would be appropriate to show off a recent find that originally came from one of the versions of Parker Brothers Monopoly game. The game piece is a nice pewter replica of the Liberty Bell.

The original Liberty Bell was commissioned from Whitechapel Bell Foundry in the UK for £100. Unfortunately, the bell cracked the first time it was struck, and was recast by Pass and Stow.

The game piece scales out close to 1/72. I'm not sure what I can use it for, but it's still rather cool to have. To the right of the bell is a figure from the Accurate American Militia Set (7201) - I always thought the figure bore a resemblance to Benjamin Franklin, so I've included him in the picture.

George does not hold any lingering resentment
over the loss of the colonies. Heck, he doesn't
even have any ill will toward Mel Gibson.

Happy 4th of July everyone. I'm out on vacation next week, so my next post will be in August.
